DEBORAH MULLEN, Secretary

A Navy spouse for 41 years, Deborah and her husband, Admiral Mike Mullen, have lived on naval installations on both coasts and overseas in the Philippines and Italy. Admiral Mullen retired from the U.S. Navy in 2011 after 43 years of distinguished service.  Prior to his retirement Admiral Mullen served as the 28th Chief of Naval Operations and the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. 

Deborah is a staunch advocate of military families, surviving family members, homeless veterans, and family readiness efforts, and since her husband’s retirement she has continued to actively work in these areas. 

In 2013, Deborah joined the Board of Directors for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.  She also serves as the Chair of the TAPS Ambassador Committee.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the 1887 Fund in Los Angeles.  The goal of the fund is to return the West Los Angeles Veteran Campus to be a home for veterans and restore the Wadsworth Chapel and four other original buildings on the campus. Deborah is an honorary member of the Emeritus Board of Easterseals DC MD VA.  With her husband, she serves on the Harvard Business School’s Board of Dean’s Advisors. Deborah volunteers at the Lighthouse Shelter, a homeless prevention support center, in Annapolis, Maryland and with the Naval Officers Spouses Club in Washington, D.C.
