VANESSA (GABRIELSON) DALEY
TAPS Youth Programs
Vanessa (Gabrielson) Daley is the daughter of SFC Dan H. Gabrielson, an Army Reservist who was killed by an RPG when his convoy was attacked on July 9th, 2003 in Baquba, Iraq. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, in Elementary Education, with an emphasis on Early Childhood. Vanessa is originally from Northwest Wisconsin where she taught 2nd grade. She has moved to Ft. Hood, Texas in an effort to work more closely with military families.
Before joining the TAPS staff, Vanessa volunteered with TAPS for more than three years. First as a mentor and then as a Group Leader at the National Good Grief Camp held in Washington, DC each Memorial Day. Vanessa leads the TAPS Regional Youth Programs that are held throughout the United States at predominately military installations. She has the great honor of working with our nation's youngest survivors.
In addition, Vanessa plays an advisory role with the Sesame Workshop as they embark on the third installation of their 'Talk, Listen Connect' series for military families and their children. This newest DVD, starring everyone’s favorite Muppets, will reach out to military children who are coping with the death of an immediate family member.
