Claire Hunter first joined TAPS as a volunteer in 2008. Today, she holds the title of Manager of the TAPS Peer Mentor Program.
As manager of this program, she oversees and supports hundreds of trained TAPS Peer Mentors as well as facilitates daily peer-to-peer connections between newly bereaved survivors and peer mentors; these connections are made with care and are based on various similarities between two survivors and their stories.
After receiving her B.A. in Psychology, Claire went on to get her M.A. in Thanatology and was trained to specialize in working with the dying, the grieving and the bereaved. Considering her education in Thanatology, her family's very military background, and her strong belief in the TAPS mission, she feels very honored to work directly with and support grieving military families.
