TAPS to Recognize Gary Sinise’s Dedication to the Families of America’s Fallen Heroes at Annual Honor Guard Gala
Actor and humanitarian to accept TAPS Guardian Angel Award

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) will present the inaugural TAPS Honor Guard Gala Guardian Angel Award to Gary Sinise, actor, humanitarian and founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation. The award will be presented at the 2018 TAPS Honor Guard Gala on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The award honors Sinise’s extraordinary support and personal engagement with the surviving families of America’s fallen military heroes.
"TAPS is grateful for the extraordinary contributions Gary has made to the military community and his dedication to remembering those who have given their lives defending our freedoms," said Bonnie Carroll, TAPS President and Founder and 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. "We are fortunate to have such a strong advocate who has steadfastly honored the lives of those who have served and died by caring for the families they loved and left behind."
In addition to his very public roles in television and movies, Sinise founded the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 to ensure the sacrifices of America’s defenders and their families are never forgotten. The Foundation honors veterans, first responders, their families and those in need through unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. Whether honoring our Gold Star families, building specially adapted smart homes for wounded heroes, lifting spirits home and abroad with exciting live concerts, or bringing WWII veterans to the museum built in their honor, the Gary Sinise Foundation serves America’s heroes and their loved ones 365 days a year.
Funds raised through the Gala will be used to support families of fallen heroes through programs such as the TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp; Education Support Services for Military Families; National Military Survivor Helpline; Military Mentor Program; Casework Assistance; and programs, seminars, retreats and Good Grief Camps held across the country for surviving spouses, parents, adult children and siblings.
