FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MARCH 23, 2012
WARRENTON, Va. – Molly’s Irish Pub will host the Wearing O the Green 5k this year and raise funds to help the families left behind by our fallen military. This year’s race is dedicated in loving memory of Sergeant Sean Callahan of Gainesville, VA and will start at 8:00 A.M. on March 25. Sean has been a part of Molly’s restaurant since itsopening in 2001, and the staff say they are honored to dedicate this race in his memory.
Sean was born on June 14, 1987 and became a Marine in March 2008. He deployed to Afghanistan under Operation Enduring Freedom in December 2010 and five months later he was killed in action on April 23, 2011. His awards include the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Purple Heart, and NAM with V for Valor.
His family says that Sean was one of a kind and lit up every room he entered. An avid guitar player, Sean encouraged younger players to follow their passion for music. His dedication to selflessly helping bring freedom to those overseas is what he will be most remembered for.
