Peer Support Groups
TAPS is an organization committed to caring for all those
affected by a death of a loved one in the armed forces.
Whether you are a parent, sibling, spouse, significant
other, friend, cousin, or co-worker of a military casualty,
you can find special friendships and comfort at a TAPS
Support Group meeting. It is here that Survivors share
stories of their loved ones, the experience of the loss,
life since the death and issues in dealing with sudden
traumatic loss. Survivors also share with each other funny
stories, good days (and bad), triumphs, special projects and
activities they have developed to rebuild their lives, honor
their loved one and move forward. Finally, at a TAPS Support
Group meeting, those suffering from a traumatic loss of a
loved one will find caring and understanding hearts who can
provide comfort, hope, and plenty of hugs. Grief can be
isolating. Coming together with other survivors provides the
connections and support that help you know you are not
alone.
