Angela Blank Receives TAPS Guardian Angel Award and Joins TAPS Honorary Board

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – December 10, 2020

ARLINGTON, Va– The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) presented the TAPS Guardian Angel Award to Angela Blank.  The award was announced at the Atlanta Falcons Community Honors Show.  This award honors Blank’s extraordinary support and personal engagement with the surviving family members of America’s fallen military heroes.

In presenting the award, Bonnie Carroll said, “Angie Blank is an ever-present source of comfort for our surviving families. She has opened her heart and steadfastly honored the lives of those who have served and died by caring for the families they loved and left behind.”  Carroll continued, “Angie has been a Guardian Angel for our families and we are so pleased to present this award to her.”

Blank will also be joining the TAPS Honorary Board, effective immediately.

Angela Blank is a founding member of the Overwatch Fund, a committee of associates across the Blank Family of Businesses and administered by The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation that oversees grantmaking supporting veterans of the U.S. Military in the state of Georgia. A former sales and marketing professional, she now dedicates her time serving on The Warrior Alliance Board where she works diligently to help Veterans transition into a purposeful and meaningful civilian life, striving to reduce Veteran suicides. She also devotes much of her time to volunteering for various Veteran service organizations.

Blank shared, “I feel so honored to receive the distinguished TAPS Guardian Angel Award. There are so many other deserving men and women who work every day with our active-duty military, veterans and families of fallen heroes, and I would be remiss if I didn't thank the many people who help me every day. I know these collective efforts are impactful and that alone is so rewarding for the men and women who bravely serve our country and protect our freedoms. I am forever grateful for Bonnie Carroll and her amazing team who have provided resources, comfort and care for more than 25 years to families of our nation's fallen heroes. When I think about the words 'Guardian Angel,' Bonnie's picture is right beside them. In such a trying year for everyone, I’m humbled and grateful for this award. Outside of becoming a mother and grandmother, I can’t think of an honor I’m prouder of in my life and my heart is full.”

This is only the second time TAPS has presented the Guardian Angel Award.  The inaugural award was presented to Gary Sinise, founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation, in March 2018.
