Goldfein to Accept TAPS 2018 Honor Guard Gala Military Award on Behalf of America's Airmen

Gen. David Goldfein, 2018 TAPS Honor Guard Gala Military Award Recipient
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. David Goldfein will accept the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Honor Guard Gala Military Award on behalf of all Airmen and their families on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
"Everything we do at TAPS honors the service and sacrifice of those who have served in America's armed forces," said Bonnie Carroll, TAPS President and Founder and 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. "This year, we are proud to award the TAPS Honor Guard Gala Military Award to General Goldfein on behalf of America’s Airmen."
Prior to becoming the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Goldfein served as the Vice Chief of Staff, as Director of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and as Commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command in Southwest Asia. Goldfein received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1983. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School and is a command pilot with more than 4,200 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, F-16C/D, F-117A, MQ-9 and MC-12W. He has flown combat missions in operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Allied Force and Enduring Freedom.
The TAPS Honor Guard Gala honors the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and contractors who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America and recognizes the families they left behind.
"It is an honor to accept the 2018 TAPS Military Award on behalf of all Airmen and their families," said Goldfein. "I have seen firsthand the difference that organizations like TAPS make in the lives of the families of our fallen heroes."
Funds raised through the Gala will be used to support families of fallen heroes through programs such as the TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp; the National Military Suicide Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp, TAPS Regional Survivor Seminars and Good Grief Camps; and TAPS Retreats for surviving spouses, parents, adult children and siblings.
This year's Legacy Sponsors are the Centene Charitable Foundation and Health Net Federal Services, and the Title Sponsor is USAA.
