TAPS Family Receives 2024 Chevrolet Trax at MLB All-Star Week
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 12, 2023
SEATTLE, Washington – During MLB All-Star Week, a surviving military family from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) received a brand new, 2024 Chevrolet Trax. TAPS was honored to be one of two military-connected charities included in this generous act, and the organization is grateful for Chevrolet’s and MLB’s commitment to honoring service members and their families.

The Tinsley family was on hand at Play Ball Park to receive the car. Amanda Tinsley, the surviving spouse of Sgt. Tyler Tinsley, U.S. Marine Corps, came to TAPS following the death of her husband in 2016. Amanda is currently raising her 8-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter — the children were just 1 and 2 years old when their father was killed.
The donation, in honor of Chevrolet’s 19-year history of collaborating with MLB and the All-Star Game, not only ensures that the Tinsleys can travel wherever they need to go safely, but it reminds the entire family that this nation recognizes their sacrifice.
TAPS Founder and President, Bonnie Carroll, stated, “This is so much more than a car; this is reliable transportation for years to come, whether to and from school or wherever the family travels. New happy memories will be made in this car, and TAPS is so grateful to Chevrolet and MLB for helping the Tinsley family and honoring the service of Sgt. Tinsley.”
“MLB All-Star Week recognizes some of the very best in baseball, and it also shines a light on the sport and the good being done in the community by MLB and its partners,” says TAPS Vice President of Sports & Entertainment, Diana Hosford. “It was moving to see Chevrolet and MLB team up to honor a veteran and a surviving family —- another lovely way to define ‘All-Star.’”
Along with the Tinsley family, Chevrolet also gifted a second 2024 Trax to the Jones family, nominated by Operation Homefront. Chief Marketing Officer for Chevrolet Steve Majoros shared, “Chevrolet remains committed to recognizing the bravery and dedication of those who sacrificed for our freedom, and that includes their families. It is our honor to present an all-new 2024 Trax to both the Tinsley and Jones families.”
