International Research Analyst Intern

Position: Internship (unpaid)

 

DESCRIPTION

This position works collaboratively with working groups of key leaders to evaluate current events on an international level of significance to TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) International programming and outreach; provides analysis and reporting of current events and political climates in other countries; generates reports and briefings in a variety of formats and styles suitable for different audiences; and researches grant opportunities and develop applications for grant requests. This position reports to the President.

This internship will provide the following outcomes:

• Development of research skills on an international level
• Experience in analyzing current events in a specific geographical area and the impact of TAPS mission
• Exposure to international nonprofit and the ability to collaborate with team members supporting the mission

Interns work a 20-hour work week during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Please note we are extremely flexible around your work and school schedule. Internship beginning and end dates are flexible. Work will be performed at our National Headquarters in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. Academic credit for internships is strongly encouraged and enthusiastically supported. Please arrange for credit through your own programs and TAPS will provide all documentation necessary for you to receive credit for your talent and work.

 

Experience

• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, and ability to integrate findings
• Strong writing and presentation skills; ability to present to audiences without the background knowledge of the organization
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Professional, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, “can do” attitude

 

Qualifications

• Graduate or Undergraduate Student (Social & Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, International Studies, International Law)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Organized self-starter with a positive attitude
• Patient and willing to work collaboratively with a team
• Accountable
