FOR WOMEN
At this unique retreat for women who have lost a relationship partner, sibling, child, or parent, we will use a holistic approach to explore ways to move forward within our new normal. If you've been asking questions such as "Who am I now? What do I want? How do I get there?" and you are ready to take the next steps toward transforming your life, this retreat will help you along that path. Using a combination of athletics, art, journaling and accountability partnerships, we will take inspiration from the desert and our peers and create a plan for healing and growth.
This event will focus on the needs of our minds, bodies and spirits as we take steps to manifest what we want rather than simply letting our lives happen to us. There is often such a fog in grief that we know that we want something more, but we don't always know what that is. This retreat will be a place to explore those feelings and desires in a purposeful way. Whether we hope to open our hearts again, focus on health and fitness, achieve financial stability, make a career change, or go back to school, this retreat will help us understand what we want in our lives and create concrete steps to reach those goals.
ADVENTURE LEVEL
This retreat is rated as an intermediate intensity adventure. Activities will involve moderate physical activity and will challenge you, but do not include extreme adventures.
Please note that this is also a technology-free weekend. In order to fully immerse ourselves in the activities and with respect to our fellow participants, we ask that cell phones and other devices are only used for true emergencies.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, TAPS will provide lodging, most meals and all activity costs. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide transportation to and from retreats.
Who should attend? Due to the unique nature of this event, TAPS Empowerment Retreats are intended for those survivors whose loss occurred more than two years ago. If you are within the first two years following your loss, we encourage you to attend a traditional TAPS RETREAT, TAPS REGIONAL SEMINAR & GOOD GRIEF CAMP and/or the NATIONAL MILITARY SURVIVOR SEMINAR.
TAPS Regional Seminars feature activities, workshops, small group discussions, memorial celebrations, and special events. A unique "track" system will ensure that whether you are a few weeks, several months, or many years out from your loss, the seminar will meet you where you are in your grief journey.
