Are you a survivor who has been hesitant about committing to run the Marine Corps Marathon or Army Ten-Miler, but you know that 2017 is your year? Join us at the Inner Warrior Intro to Running Training Camp! We will share the journey with you from first steps to finish line.
The TAPS Inner Warrior Program addresses health and wellness for survivors. We believe that knowledge, practical tools and radical self-care can help you reach your wellness goals. At the Intro to Running Training Camp, we’ll cover all of the basics for training for, and successfully completing, the Marine Corps Marathon or Army Ten-Miler. You’ll get a comprehensive introduction to running including customized training plans, nutrition and hydration information, gear and more. After the training camp has ended, we’ll have an ongoing community of coaches and peers for continued encouragement and accountability leading up to our races.
To join us at the Intro to Running Camp, complete a registration form.
Schedule
Day 1: We’ll start by learning how to find inspiration in ourselves and in each other. You’ll get an overview of the weekend and a chance to ask questions.
Day 2: The second day starts early with a run/walk (wherever you are in your running journey, it’s OK — even if you’re at the walking part!), information on stretching, warming up and cooling down. We’ll move into sessions on supportive core, mobility and strengthening exercises. We’ll round out the day with discussions of habituation, motivation, supportive nutrition, hydration and injury prevention.
Day 3: A run or run/walk session starts the day. Afterward, we’ll talk about races and athletic conditioning. We’ll work through training plans, help you set goals and connect you with your training group. You’ll have everything you need to make the next few months successful and create this version of yourself.
