This summer, TAPS joins Freedom Hunters as part of the Ethan Farwell Memorial Camp for an outdoor adventure for teens ages 14-18 who have lost a parent/guardian or sibling. Activities will include fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, ropes courses, swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding. Each day will feature a "marquis" group event followed by time for individual or small-group activities.
Freedom Hunters is a nonprofit military outreach program dedicated to honoring those who protect our freedoms. Freedom Hunters reflects the outdoor community's appreciation for our troops by taking select active-duty and combat veterans, families of fallen heroes, children of the deployed, and those wounded or injured on outdoor adventures.
SCHEDULE
This adventure will begin and end in Tahoe City, California, from June 17 through June 24.
Weather at Lake Tahoe in June is terrific. Expect warm, sunny days and crisp evenings. The lake elevation is 6,200 feet.
A detailed schedule and packing list will be provided upon registration for the event.
ADVENTURE LEVEL
Teen survivors will experience five full days of outdoor adventure with their TAPS family! Some activities, such as fishing and swimming, are less strenuous than others, and some, like the ropes course and mountain biking, will be a bit more challenging.
Event FEES
Cost for this adventure is covered in full by Freedom Hunters. However, travel to and from the event is on your own for those driving.
