Presented by the TAPS Institute for Hope and Healing®, this webinar with M. Katherine Shear, MD, and Stephen J. Cozza, MD, will help clinicians to better understand the impact of a service member's death on his or her family, and how available resources impact resilience or vulnerability in surviving families.

Katherine Shear
 
M. Katherine Shear, MDDr. Shear is Founder and Director of the Center for Complicated Grief. She is an internist and a psychiatrist with the heart of a social worker. Dr. Shear is a talented clinician who has been studying and treating people with complicated grief for more than 30 years. She developed a short-term therapy that was influenced by her inherent optimism and faith in human creativity and resilience. Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT) has the strongest evidence base of any grief treatment in the world.
Stephen J. Cozza
 
Stephen J. Cozza, MDDr. Cozza is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University where he serves as Associate Director, Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Cozza is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has served in a variety of positions of responsibility in the Department of Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Program Details

This webinar is intended for professionals working with bereaved military families and will contain information that is academic in nature. 

Registration is free. Continuing Education (1.5 hours) credit is available from a variety of professional boards. Certificates cost $25. Instructions for obtaining CEs will be provided during the webinar.
