During Volunteer Week, we shine a spotlight on our amazing TAPS Military Mentors, Legacy Mentors, and Group Leaders. With dedication and compassion, they change the lives of hundreds of surviving military children each year by providing one-to-one care and companionship at Good Grief Camps, Family Campouts, and other special events. These mentors not only bring smiles to these children’s faces but remind them they will always be part of our military family. Military Mentors (in blue shirts) and Group Leaders (in white shirts) currently serve in the military or are veterans. Legacy mentors (in purple shirts) are military survivors who have graduated from Good Grief Camp and are ready to support younger survivors. In 2019, more than 1,300 military mentors volunteered over 54,000 hours with TAPS. During the COVID-19 crisis, they are checking in regularly with their mentees, helping with homework, and providing ongoing moral support. Learn more about how to volunteer on the TAPS Legacy and Military Mentor page.
