Video: Recognizing that Our Choices Matter While Grieving

Presenter: Andy McNiel

We grieve when someone in our life dies, it is not a choice, it is a natural, normal reaction to loss. Though grief is not a choice, there are choices that are available to us while we are grieving that have an impact on our health and wellbeing. This presentation will consider what some of these choices might be. We will discuss choices we have regarding our thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes in the midst of grief. We will talk about strategies for recognizing those grief reactions that are normal and ideas for those things we can do to embrace the choices available to us while grieving.

Objectives

  • Participants will be validated in their grief experience.
  • Participants will be able to better understand choices available to them in the midst of their grief.
  • Participants will be able to strategize how to embrace some choices available to them while they are grieving that directly impact their health and wellbeing.
