TAPS Presence at Wreaths Across America Event at Arlington National Cemetery
Author: TAPS
This Saturday is National Wreaths Across America Day. On this day, over 200,000 wreaths will be placed on graves of fallen heroes across the country. The theme for this year is "Come with a Mission, Leave with a Memory." TAPS will be present at the annual Wreaths Across America event at Arlington National Cemetery to provide support for surviving families. We look forward to seeing many of our families very soon!
TAPS has many exciting events planned for 2014! In reference to the TAPS Retreats program, we will have a Seattle Widows Retreat in January. In February, we will have an Alaska Parents Retreat and Bend, Oregon Siblings Retreat. For a complete list of all our upcoming events, please see our calendar.
The holiday season is upon us; however, for many of us, this time of the year is difficult. Feelings, emotions, memories, traditions, expectations - all arise. TAPS offers helpful information to those grieving the death of a loved one during the holiday season. TAPS also offers advice on how to support children during this time of the year. "The holidays can be full of bittersweet moments. They can also be an opportunity to honor and remember the person who died and the legacy that special person left…" Bonnie Carroll, military widow and founder of TAPS, stated. Bonnie recently wrote a blog, How to Help Grieving Military Children, which appeared in the Huffington Post. For more tips on coping with grief during the holidays, please see our articles filterd by holidays.
